Tucker Carlson said on Friday that companies that help their employees get abortions are “against families.”
The Fox News host on an episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” played a clip in which President Joe Biden denounced the Supreme Court decision. overthrow Roe v. Wadethe landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision that made abortion a constitutional right nationwide.
“Note that abortion is the red line for them,” Carlson said. ‘Abortion? Of all the problems, why is that so important to them?’
“It’s obvious why it’s so important to the US companies, almost all of whom immediately agreed to say, ‘We’ll fly you over to have an abortion in the state of your choice,'” Carlson continued. “Obviously, employees without families are much cheaper for the company.”
In the wake of Friday’s Supreme Court ruling, several companies, such as: Disney, Netflix and Meta have vowed to provide financial aid to their employees to help them leave the state to have an abortion.
“It’s much cheaper to pay for an abortion than to pay for maternity leave or an extra name on the insurance policy,” Carlson said. “So, it’s all about the money for corporate America. It always has been. Families are bad for big companies. That’s why they’re against families.”
Since May, abortion rights advocates fear the Supreme Court would overturn Roe v. Wade. The fears started when Politico leaked design advice in which Associate Justice Samuel Alito called the decision “extremely wrong from the outset.”
However, abortion remained legal in the United States until the court made the final decision. But the draft itself was enough to stop reproductive rights activists and doctors performing abortions on the edge†
By overthrowing Roe, the Supreme Court has left the issue of abortion legality in the hands of individual state legislators and essentially made it illegal in at least 22 states to get an abortion. It is expected that added restrictions in several others.
